Succubi

From 62studio Wiki

Succubi (淫魔 Inma) are a race of all-female demons found throughout 62studio's games. They comprise most of the characters, including most of the enemies.

Description[edit | edit source]

A typical succubus
Succubi resemble human women with various inhuman additions. The most common are horns, bat-like wings and a spaded tail, but some succubi instead have traits of various animals (e.g. Lamia, Harpy) or plants (Alraune[1]), and a few succubi are indistinguishable from human women (e.g. Ella[2]). With some exceptions (e.g. Nekomata[1]), all succubi have breasts much larger than the average human woman. Succubi have a variety of hair colours that do not appear in humans, such as pink and blue (though this might simply be part of a common trend in Japanese media). They often wear clothing that is revealing and/or fetishistic in nature, likely to better attract men.

While many succubi have wings, some are unable to fly using them, while others do not like to fly.[3]

Succubi can drain the life force of human men via their semen, and often rape them to feed on this (and also to reproduce).[4] Facilitating this, succubi are born knowing with the sexual knowledge they need to obtain human semen.[5] While they typically attack human men, succubi also attack and drain power from female victims as well, both humans[6] and other succubi[7]. They don't need to do this to survive, but they do need it to maintain their magical powers. Succubi vary in their treatment of their victims: some immediately drain them to death, some drain their victims non-lethally, and some keep humans as pets. However, humans a have a finite amount of life force and eventually die if a succubus drains it all.[4]

Succubi can also replenish their power by being in a place containing magical power, or consuming food. However, the latter generally doesn't replenish their power enough to be useful.[5]

Succubi can reproduce using the magical power in human semen, but this is not the same as human childbirth.[3] They are also capable of turning human women into succubi.[8] Especially powerful succubi can produce offspring out of their own magical power, such as the Queen of Hearts with Lewis and Carroll.[9]

Succubi are resistant to physical attacks with weapons. It is possible to harm and even kill them using weapons such as swords, but this is generally much more difficult than other methods.[10] Humans can normally only fight them by attempting to pleasure them to the point of orgasm. However, because succubi are themselves skilled at sex, it is not easy to defeat them in this manner.[11]

Succubi are theoretically immortal, being able to live as long as they can maintain their magical power. However, they lose their magical power more as they age, so their average lifespan is 80 years.[5] They mostly keep their appearance as they age.[3]

Relationships with humans[edit | edit source]

In general, succubi will attack humans in order to rape them. They will do this to the player characters and to human NPCs. However, there are also many succubi who will not attack the player character. These can be talked to, and some will even buy and sell items to the player character, or give them quests. In some games the player character can even befriend succubi and/or have them fight alongside him.[12][13] It is also possible for humans and succubi to form sibling bonds.[14][15]

Similar beings[edit | edit source]

There are some beings which strongly resemble succubi (being all-female and attacking humans for their semen), but which are explicitly stated to not be succubi. Vampires are the most notable example, as their profiles describe them as a separate species that looks down on actual succubi.[16][17] Busty Phantoms and Desert Phantoms may also be examples, as their profiles describe them as youkai rather than succubi, and the former's original Japanese name contains the word for youkai (妖怪).[18][19]

Devils also resemble succubi, but are less common and far more powerful.

History[edit | edit source]

Lust Series[edit | edit source]

In this series, there is the human world (apparently similar to real life Earth) and the succubus world.[1][6] Most succubi live in the latter, but sometimes (as in the case of Citra and Plana) they cross over into the human world. There are also some human men in the succubus world, who are playthings for the succubi. Succubi have the ability to summon humans into their world, but this consumes a large amount of power.[12]

At some point in the distant past, the powerful devil Demon became a threat to the succubus world, killing many other succubi. After many years of struggling, she was defeated thanks to the combined efforts of Empress (the succubus queen) and her friends. However, they were only able to seal her into a weakened form, that of a fairy.[12]

Lust Reaper
Another devil, Lust Reaper, decided to rewrite one of the Brothers Grimms' stories. Her rewrite turned the story into another world for succubi, and she populated this by taking humans from their world and transforming the women into succubi.[1] One of these women was Chloe, who was transformed into the succubus Manuve.[8] Fess and Ideal were also created by transforming humans.[3] The characters within the book were also affected, with Rotkappchen, the story's heroine, also becoming a succubus.[1]

By the start of Lust Grimm, succubi controlled most of this world, with humans being restricted to a few towns (according to Primary). Not all succubi were hostile, as a few friendly ones coexisted with humans in the towns. Rotkappchen drew a male human named Magrut, the target of her love, into the world. Magrut eventually managed to defeat her and Lust Reaper, returning the story to its original state and freeing all the humans.[1]

Lust Nightmare
At some point, the devil Lust Nightmare was born out of the desires of Mea, a lonely human girl who wished for friends. When Mea was mortally wounded after jumping off a cliff, Lust Nightmare revived her as a succubus and brought her to the succubus world, but the girl was still unable to find friends here. Lust Nightmare proceeded to destroy the succubus world and then rewind time, multiple times. This caused Empress to devise a plan to try to stop this destruction: she attempted to absorb the entire human world into the succubus world in an attempt to save the latter, which would make all the men food for succubi and transform the women into succubi.[12]

As part of this plan, Empress needed the body of a human who'd interacted with many succubi. She therefore took control of Fess and brought Magrut into the succubus world (using the former's identity to help manipulate the latter). Magrut was able to foil her plan, then go on to fight Lust Nightmare and befriend her, thus saving the succubus world.[12]

Alternatively, if Magrut defeats sufficient succubi during his time in the succubus world, then Demon will gain enough power from this to talk to him (though still in the guise of a fairy). She offers to give him a badge that will let him permanently kill succubi, claiming it would allow him to return home sooner. Magrut can accept and then proceed to kill almost all of the succubi in the succubus world, leading to the destruction of the world. Fess (still under Empress' control) confronts Magrut, becoming Dark Fess, and attempts to kill him until he gives up. Eventually, Demon shows her true appearance to Magrut, explaining that his actions allowed her to break her seal and that he's fulfilled her goal of destroying the world. Demon tells the player to close the game window, and can do this herself if the player tries to continue. If the player tries to reopen the game, they will be faced with Demon again, who offers to create a copy of the game world for them to continue playing in.[12]

Succubus Puttel[edit | edit source]

Bosewicht
Succubus Puttel is set in a different world in which both humans and succubi exist, with the latter ruled by their queen, Bosewicht. However, Demon is capable of interacting with this world as well, and Ideal can also travel over to this world.

At some point, Bosewicht began planning a party for succubi, in which many humans would be used as prey. Standing in the way of this was a succubus researcher who'd invented a necklace with the power to weaken succubi. Before this necklace could be mass-produced, Bosewicht sent Ella to abduct the researcher and his wife, leaving their young son Azreth behind, and then killed the couple. She also ordered Ella to act as an older sister for Azreth.

Some years later, Bosewicht ordered the succubi to conquer the world, taking over human settlements and bringing the humans to her castle for the party, and also had Ella return to her. However, Azreth set out in search of Ella, eventually managing to find and defeat Bosewicht.

Bosewicht had a backup plan involving three of her elite subordinates (Vampire, Hell Succubus and Queen Cow), who would bring despair to the few surviving humans. Azreth defeated these three and tracked down Bosewicht again, with the goal of saving Ella. Though he almost fell to the succubus queen's temptation, Azreth ultimately managed to defeat her with Ella's help. With Bosewicht's defeat, the succubi retreated and the humans began to rebuild.

Succubus in Wonderland[edit | edit source]

Queen of Hearts
In this game, there is another human world and another succubus world, the latter being called "Wonderland" by Alice. Wonderland is ruled over by its kindhearted queen, the Queen of Hearts. The Queen has two daughters, Lewis and Carroll. A holiday celebrated in Wonderland is Hearts Day, in which all the succubi release balloons while making wishes.

One day, the high-class succubus White Rabbit fell under the control of a mysterious entity (which also significantly boosted the White Rabbit's power). Following the will of this entity, the White Rabbit placed a curse on the Queen of Hearts that caused the latter to become a cruel tyrant. As a result of this, Lewis ran away from her family, looking for a way to return to normal.

Later, the White Rabbit led Reto, a human boy, through a well into Wonderland. Reto appeared in front of Lewis, who came up with a plan: she would pretend to help Reto get back to his world, while actually raising him up so she could feed on his power, to help her campaign against her mother. The two of them began traveling across the succubus world, with Lewis' sister Carroll pursuing them with the goal of forcibly bringing Lewis back. During this, they had multiple encounters with the Hatter and Cheshire Cat, two powerful succubi who seemed to know something about the current state of Wonderland.

However, Lewis had a change of heart throughout her experiences with Reto, and now genuinely wanted to help him return home. When Carroll reveals Lewis' (former) true goal, Reto accepted Lewis despite this.

Eventually, Carroll also had a change of heart (due to Lewis' words in a previous encounter) and decided to side with Lewis and Reto and the Queen of Hearts. The three of them went to confront the Queen and, with the help of the Hatter and Cheshire Cat, managed to defeat her and break the curse.

With the Queen of Hearts back to her normal personality, Wonderland was at peace again. The Queen provided Reto with the means to return to the human world. Afterwards, the succubi of Wonderland celebrated Hearts Day.

However, the White Rabbit remained at large. Reto soon encountered this strange succubus again, and she told him how she was the one who cursed the queen and warned him to forget about the succubi. Reto ignored this advice and used the well in his village to return to Wonderland. He reunited with Lewis and the two of them managed to stop the White Rabbit, freeing her from her control in the process. Afterwards, Carroll explained the situation to them, and the two succubus sisters decided to continue investigating this matter.

It's eventually revealed that the White Rabbit was under the control of the Librarian of Space-Time, a former human altered into something entirely different by yet another mysterious figure (Demon). She is defeated and the threat to Wonderland is finally eliminated.
