Lust
Lust is a major game mechanic in many of 62studio's games. It is one of the methods used to represent the main character gradually giving in to the temptations of the succubi.
Description[edit | edit source]
In most games, Lust is a meter that ranges from 0 to 100%. In Succubus Puttel, it is instead a meter with a heart on one end, with no number. By default, the Lust meter appears on the world map, during battle and in the menu. However, its display settings can be changed.
As the Lust meter increases, the player will suffer increasing disadvantages during battle. Enemy attacks do more damage and sometimes hit twice. The chances of struggling out of Holds or escaping battle decrease. In Lust Grimm, certain enemies will use powerful attacks (prefaced by "Finisher" and denoted by red text) once Lust exceeds certain thresholds. At 100% Lust, the player can no longer struggle out of Holds. It is thus important to manage the Lust meter, otherwise battles will become excessively difficult and, eventually, unwinnable.
Lust increases when: the player attempts and fails to struggle out of a Hold; when they flee battle (Lust Grimm only, always adds 5%), when they step on Suspicious Liquid (Lust Grimm only, always adds 10%), occasionally when they are attacked by an enemy (skills that involve kissing always increase Lust); when they use certain items; and when they experience events (usually adds 80%).
Lust decreases when: the player uses certain items; the player is defeated by any enemy (sets Lust to 0%); the player uses the services of a Suspicious Mage (Lust Grimm only, sets Lust to 0%); the player pays 5000 Muni for an Overnight stay at Junk Town's Inn (Lust Grimm only, sets Lust to 0%), talks to a Chicken or sleeps in a bed (the latter two are unique to Succubus Puttel).
Exceptions[edit | edit source]
The minigames such as Cow Girl Ending do not have a Lust mechanic.
Succubus in Wonderland has Reason instead of Lust. This functions similarly to Lust except that it starts at 100 and negative effects occur at low values of Reason. There are separate Reason gauges for each character. At low Reason values, characters take more damage from attacks and the quick-time events for resisting enemy attacks become more difficult. A character receives the Null Reason status if their Reason is reduced to 0, but this functions slightly differently for Reto and his succubus companions. If Reto has Null Reason, he receives more damage. If his companion has Null Reason, she becomes uncontrollable and will attack Reto. Additionally, if Reason is reduced to 0 in a battle and then replenished, the Null Reason status will linger for 1 turn.
