62studio (むに工房 Muni Kōbō; also known in English as 62Studio) is a Japanese developer of eroges (erotic games).

Description[edit | edit source]

According to their Ci-en page, 62studio comprises two people: 井上620 (the one in charge; pronounced "Inoue620") and 和砂糖 (the main artist; pronounced "Osatou"). They also work with other artists for most of their games, similar to most eroge developers.

62studio's games primarily focus on succubi, a species of all-female demons who thirst for semen. Notably, almost all of the succubi portrayed in these games have large breasts. Additionally, 62studio's definition of "succubus" is broader than most, as it includes beings that would be classified as monster girls in other settings, such as lamias and harpies.

The protagonist of a 62studio game is usually a boy/young man with a youthful appearance, i.e. a shota. This protagonist is transported to a world filled with succubi and must attempt to find his way home, all the while trying to avoid the temptations of the succubi. However, there are exceptions to this: Lust Memory instead has an adult woman for the protagonist; Succubus Puttel has the succubi existing in the same world as the protagonist from the beginning; and Succubus in Wonderland has the protagonist able to recruit succubi and fight alongside them.

The sexual content in 62studio games is typically non-consensual, with the male protagonist being raped by one or more succubi. However, there are some consensual sex scenes (e.g. Mea's in Lust Friend), and some cases of a female character being raped by succubi (Lust Memory and, to a lesser extent, Succubus in Wonderland).

Like many other eroge developers, 62studio contracts various artists to provide the art for their games.

On the 1st of April each year, 62studio takes part in April Fool's Day by releasing joke game ideas.

62studio's games have led to some fanfiction being written, some of which has been promoted on the official Ci-en.

62studio has a recurring association with the numbers 6 and 2 (not necessarily in that order). The first two characters of their Japanese name can be read as these numbers (mu = 6, ni = 2), their email address is 625studio2@gmail.com, their official mascot is 62-chan, they give special announcements on the second of June (the sixth month of the year), and the numbers 6 and 2 often appear in codes throughout the games.
